is AEM not as stressful as the rest of cornell? because my high school years have been non stop school work/lots of stress with hardly any free time, something i dont want to repeat to such a high extent in college, which has chased me away from cornell. should it not?

I wouldn't worry...at all. AEM is so easy.

if stressful to you means not going to class, studying 40mins for the final only to finish the final in 25mins and walking out with an A+ in the class, then yes, it is extremely stressful.

it AEM really that easy, or is that an exaggeration?

The rumor is that AEM is easier compared to other colleges within Cornell. Although you also have to think about the high quality of the students who are saying this...but ya it seems to be manageable.

yea it seems like itd be a bit more difficult than that, considering business week has it ranked number 10 for undergrad business programs...it seems hard to believe that such a ranking would come with the amount of work you've described. are you in the program?

yes, i am, i'm double-majoring in biology and AEM, and the AEM really adds no work to my bio-major requirements

wow, that certainly changes my opinion AEM and cornell completely, thanks a lot

np, to be fair though, it's hard to make the study of business difficult. It's not like economics where there is a definitely mathematical and theoretical basis.

This is really making me afraid. It really can't be that easy. You guys make it seem easier than my community college classes. I'm attending Cornell this Spring for AEM.

Im only in hs so i cant tell u about my experiences but i saw a page with the median grades for each class at cornell and it didnt seem as though the AEM classes had considerably higher medians than all other classes.

So unless all the kids in AEM are really dumb (it is the hardest program at cornell to get into other than maybe architecture) then the above posters are must be exagerating.

And to jrcho88, it is certainly possible to make business a difficult major- I have heard that business is one of the most diffcult majors at Penn.

Here is the link to the page with the median grades http://registrar.sas.cornell.edu/Grades/MedianGradeSP06.pdf

It looks like the AEM medians are actually farily low. Mostly B's and B+'s with a few A-'s adn A's.

PAM looks about a thousand times easier than AEM with most of the medians being around an A-

yea i mean, its ranked #10 for a reason, and that reason can not come with being easy.

is it really cornell's hardest school to get into?

Chill out. The stats for AEM are NOT that high because it is full of athletes. A engineering or chem course with a B+ average is certainly not equally as hard as an AEM coursewith a B+ average. I don't know if it is the easiest major at Cornell but it is definitely one of the easiest ones.

Wow ILRST411: Stat Analysis Qualitative Data has an A+ median! Sign me up! lmao

it's not a joke or anything, but it's not hard to get good grades in AEM if you're willing to put in the effort.

lvl 4 AEM classes and 324 are pretty difficult except Schulze's 414 class.

How hard is it to double major in Biological Engineering and AEM?

ILRST 411 is actually pretty difficult. Lots of math, maximum likelihood functions and all that. Most of the students in the class are graduate students, and it's pretty funny to watch students walk out of class after the first day because they are in over their heads. But if you come to class, take time to learn the material, and put some effort into the final project you will do fine.

would you say the students are competitive/cut throat?
