I've read that Cornell looks for extracurriculars and a passion geared toward your major (especially in CALS, Hum Ec, Hotel) - if you plan to major in AEM, what would they look for? Participation in the stock market?

I think that showing an genuine interest in anything related to business should be sufficient.

also, great essays that are passionate about business

Ok..so how exactly would you portray a passion in business? Maybe it would be different if I lived somewhere else, but at my current location, I see a dearth of opportunities that would really be related to business

What about studying and commenting about ideas for plans for economic development in your geographic area...whether promising or not?
What are local community and business leaders thinking, saying? Investigate and report?

Remember, there other specializations to AEM besides business. Other specializations include agricultural economics and agribusiness and you can display interest in those.

Thanks..can anyone give me some more examples though? My brain's hit a dead end.

Also, the app essay for the CALS wants you to describe your influences toward selecting that major. Does anyone have a sample essay that they would be willing to share?

Think! You can do it! Work backwards. What are you curious about, personally interested in that has possible applications? Example: Sports...managing minor or major sports teams...what are the trends? Your community...Family businesses...the good and the bad of continuing them for more than one generation...etc. World currencies....precious metals...what is going on with them? Do a little research. So, what have been your influences?

Thanks! I think I got the idea. Does anyone want to read my essay over?
