Aerospace Engineering Masters

Hey Everyone,

I am an undergrad junior at Georgia Tech in AE. I was looking into grad school, I have not taken my GRE's yet but I have taken practice GRE's and have gotten
770 Q 670 V
My GPA is 3.53 but I do not think I can get it above 3.62 before applying to a grad school
I have done research in the Experimental Aerodynamics Group for 2 semesters and plan to do another 2 semesters. I know my research professor pretty well, he is also teaching one of my classes this semester, so I think I can get good recommendations.
I am the recipient of the NSF FAST Scholarship and the SMART Scholarship
I am also in the 5 yr. BS/MS program at GT
I am in the Technology and Management Program at GT = minor in Management ( I was wondering if grad schools would exclude this from my GPA and just count my major GPA)

I was looking to go to grad school at either Caltech, Stanford, MIT, or GT. What do you think my chances of getting in are?

Thanks!

Uh… If you’re in the 5 yr. BS/MS program at GT, aren’t you already on course to get a master’s from that? Did you mean you want to get a PhD, or am I just missing something?

I could get a masters here at GT…but I don’t want to really stay here haha, I would like a change of scenery

It’s good that you’re starting early, especially with GRE prep.

I’d say your chances are fairly good. Your GRE scores and GPA seem to be competitive. I’m actually in the same boat as you (senior in nuclear at GT, not wanting to stay for BSMS), so I am not the best to say you are competitive, but you seem okay; keep up the good work.

I don’t think they will really care about your minor GPA, but they do look at overall. My major gpa is only a 3.35 but overall a 3.69, so I’m hoping overall can compensate.

You have good research experience and scholarships. Have you done PURA yet?
