GPA for Aerospace Engineering

Hi I am currently a sophomore at Gatech, I actually just got my grades and I was worried because apparently i screwed up last semester and now have a cumulative GPA of 3.56. I want to go to grad school, and I am part of the Gatech 5 year AE program but I was looking into MIT, UMich, Stanford for grad school. Is there any minimum GPA I need or what range of GPA should I be aiming to achieve? I figured that a good GPA range would be 3.7-3.8. To get that kind of GPA I would need to consistently get 4.0s every semester. Basically I am worried! help?!

Thanks

You can make up for a poor gpa by having relevant research/experience, published papers, talks, presentations, good recs, and particularly high GRE scores couldn't hurt. Bottom line, keep trying as hard as you can. What else can you do?

A 3.56 in Aerospace Engineering is poor? Woah...

Hi Penguinman- I'm from MIT in another field but my boyfriend is a senior in Aero/Astro here. His advice to you is the following:

"I don't know about average GPA and whatnot, but I am a TA for an undergrad class and a 3.56 isn't bad by any stretch. It's still very early in your schoolwork and you probably have a lot of aero/astro classes left to bump that GPA up. Just keep working hard, and take the opportunity to do some research if you can and get to know some professors to write you recs. Good luck with everything and don't stress too much."

I hope this helps you!
