Aerospace Engineering - Purdue, U of Washington, U of Minnesota

I want to study Aerospace Engineering next fall and have been accepted at Purdue, U of Washington, U of Minnesota and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, am waiting on USC and have been deferred at Michigan. Minnesota is in-state tuition - the rest are out of state or private. Where should I go to get the best combination of education and value?

Are you eligible for any financial aid? Are your folks well off to the point that they can afford paying $35,000-$45,000/year without breaking a sweat? Minnesota is a very good university, but Michigan, Purdue and UDub have excellent aerospace engineering programs. If you get enough financial aid to narrow the cost gap between the OOS schools and Minnesota, I would say go for either Michigan (if you get in), Purdue or UDub. If your parents can easily afford the tuition at those schools, again, I would recommend them over Minnesota. On the other hand, if your parents aren't wealthy and if you do not get financial aid, I would recommend you go for Minnesota.

I suggest Purdue with your status the way it is now. My cousin went there for aerospace eng. and now has a job she loves at NASA!

Purdue is ranked 4th in the nation for aerospace engineering. Going by ranking alone, Purdue is your clear choice out of those schools. Whether the location, environment, size, etc appeals to you though is something I can't decide for you.

What is Udub like compared to those schools? Does it offer as much after graduation as Purdue or Michigan does?
