I’m applying to UTD and was wondering the chances for AES Distinction.

GPA: 3.71/4.00 UW

In my Junior year, my grades dropped and I got a D and C because of family issues at home. If I write a not about this to the office will the admissions office understand the grade drop?

SAT: 1530
EC: Internship at OHSU for Biology
Volunteering 300 hours
Have Art Business
Make art pieces that sell
Research on an Environmental and Health based project

You definitely have the SAT score. Do try to include something about your grade drop either in an essay or maybe in a counselor’s recommendation - saying there was an issue and you have overcome it. Hopefully, this did not drop you below the 50% ranking. Show interest in the school by doing a tour and apply early. Good luck to you.
