How much does being Latino actually help your chances of getting into upenn CAS?

Someone answer please :(

erodbball: I don’t think anyone can say definitively because admissions statistics by race / ethnicity are not available. And even if they were, the past statistics would not definitively predict your chances for the coming admission year.

What you can say with confidence is that Latinos admitted to Penn will have very strong academic credentials. Another thing that can probably be said with confidence is that there are fewer Latino candidates with typical Penn academic credentials, so assuming Penn wants to develop a “balanced” class in terms of experiences, ethnicities, etc. your chances would be slightly better than average.

So if you fit the average Penn academic profile, instead of your chances being around 10%, maybe your chances are in the 20% range. Still daunting odds.

Thank you very much. Do you go to penn?

^ No. I am a parent. Had one of my children apply to Penn among others. Waitlisted at Penn. I saw that you were looking for a reply. My comments are pretty generic and can be applied to most of the top schools.
