Does being 100% Hispanic have any effect in penn’s admission? Thanks.

I think everyone knows the answer to that. Some questions are idiotically self-explanatory.

yes, it has an effect: your application is immediately placed into the accepted pile, then thrown into the trash can....seriously, what do you think?

yea i know it has an effect.....but do they really care about ur ethnicity or is it just another factor?

they REALLY care....abt statistics....and that involves giving minorities a boost....which is good, cuz i do wanna be surrounded by ppl diff from me....good luck with ur app

dosto you're just asking for that AA discussion arent you

haha nooooo.....im for AA yet i hate it....so i dont even know where i stand....no AA debate intended!

just btw, AA has been found to help white women more than any group! (and it hurts minorities) but whatever, let's all just live in peace.

bestmiller, if you're hoping to boost your self-esteem or to "increase chances". i'm going to crush it right now.

Being 100% Hispanic will cause your chances to decrease ten-fold. (so if you had 80% before, it would be 8%)

I'm pretty sure the class of 2008 had 7 percent hispanics. I'm pretty sure the national percentage is higher (15%?). I think it would help some.

heres something intersting about UPENN
Multicultural Background Number Percent of Class
Black 178 7%
Hispanic 161 7%
Asian 589 24%
American Indian 2 <1%
Biracial/Other 9 <1%
Total 939 38%

asians take up more than half the minority population lol. and of course 62% is white
