Affordability with LSC admission

Hi,

My S has been admitted to Fall 2017 with a Dean’s scholarship (10500 each year) which means finance is still going to be a big part of the decision. He is very much interested in attending Brandeis and getting into the dual degree program with Columbia Univ (so he will have a BA in Physics from Brandeis and BS in Engg from Columbia) along with being a PreMed so that he has a backup plan in case Medical school falls through or gets delayed. Fyi – he has also been accepted into LSC program there and am not sure if there are any financial benefits of being in this program?

So our immediate question is – is there anyway the college might be able to give more scholarship? We are from CA and so it will turn out to be really expensive college for sure. And both of us parents being well-placed, am not sure if S can get any Financial aid also.

Any of you been through this kind of problem and any ideas on how we can go about it? We are totally clueless as our first one is at a UC and we did not have to borrow any money for that.

I would appreciate if any of you can please advise of the options we have to help him get through the school financially.

Thank you so much for reading this and thank you in advance for your inputs.

Did you apply for financial aid? FA letters have been mailed and should arrive soon.

My son applied for FAFSA – would that suffice?

@redpoodles : Also is FA applicable to families of both working parents? I thought FA was need-based too…sorry for not being that aware of how Financial aid works…is this the same as Federal student loan from what I read online?

You need to also submit the CSS Profile for this school as well as upload your taxes etc. Please go onto Brandeis financial aid website and follow instructions.
