Transfer students don’t get much aid. If you’re low income, you may qualify for a Pell grant of up to $5k and a NYS Tuition Assistance grant of ~$5k (awarded only if you attend a college in NYS). You can take the federal student loan ($7500/year), and if you work summers you can raise $3k/year. That would cover the cost of a SUNY and you’d graduate with about ~$15k of debt. That’s a great deal.
If you go OOS, you’d only get the ~$5k Pell and $7500 federal student loan. I don’t know if that’s enough to pay for an OOS school. Can your parents contribute anything?
