Transfering to a Better, Well-Known College...

I'm a freshman (listed as sophomore with APs and dual enrollment) at Florida State. I would like to transfer to a really good school. I did get into UCSD this year (but chose FSU) so I think I have a chance as a transfer for top schools. What colleges give good financial aid for transfers and what colleges can I get into with transfer?

Your chance to transfer will depend upon your performance solely in college over the course of two years. As for where you can get in as a transfer, there are a lot of places. But each have their own requirements and you will need to look into that yourself. As for financial aid, I don’t think many give you that great of financial aid unless you’re seriously killing at your school (3.9-4.0) if you intend to go out-of-state.

I know a guy who picked UCD over UCB, UCLA, and Stanford because they gave him a full-ride OOS. He was a physics major, tho.

^CD are you referring to need based FA or merit aid at UCD? Just asking because it seems unlikely that any UC would give better need based FA to an OOS student than S.

Thanks.

The person I mentioned? Merit-aid. Their tuition and cost of living was paid for by scholarships and grant-aid. They also had a free place to stay since they had family who lived in Sacramento.

I also said earlier in my post it would be unlikely to get good FA for an OOS student.

^Sorry, missed that part.
