How is everyone planning to pay the $200K+ cost of attendance?

Why do you care? You arent attending Fordham, are you? I thought you were headed to Seattle University, which is 28k a year and 9k a year in room/board?

Well I haven't visited Seattle U yet (so I don't know if I'll like it, but then again I haven't visited Fordham either), and lets face it, their business school isn't as good as Fordham's and Seattle can't really compare with NYC. And, I'm REALLY interested in the International Political Economy major. And please only respond if you're going to give me ideas/advice/experience on paying for an institution this expensive rather than questioning why I'm asking this.

Im hoping for a scholarship (at least the Deans scholarship) based on my scores. Other than that a mix of loans and part time jobs.

it depends on the financial aid package. in my case i got a nice package since my parents don't make much. you may have to work something else out if you don't get a good financial aid package. here's what I do though.

help from parents. my mom uses her tax refund every year towards my tuition. it's not a great deal, but it helps.

i have a 10-month payment plan that i take out which my parents pay together. this allows me to avoid taking out private loans (only loans I take out are subsidized federal stafford loans).

i work 2 jobs on campus. i've worked a max of 3 at one point. but some of the money i make from those jobs go to paying tuition expenses.

i applied for a scholarship that my mom's union offers to its members' kids in college. again it helped out, but only for the second semester bills as usually my mom and i have to think about how to deal with the first semester without that scholarship.

anyways, that's what I've done for 3 years so far. it's worked and at this rate i'll have about 13k in stafford loans by the time i graduate from here. otherwise i would not be at this school. it's too expensive.

Scholarships. I'm only paying $12k a year.
Well...the year of 08-09. We'll see what happens for Fall.

if i attend fordham

i have a 10k/yr scholarship + financial aid

I was admitted EA with the Dean's Scholarship. They say it starts at 10k/year but might go up. I would only be able to attend Fordham if it were increased/I got a good need package.

So what is the deal with this scholarship? Does it increase based on need or merit? And if it increases based on need, does it just replace need-based grants or what?

Thanks to anyone who knows anything or has experience with this!

i think they increase it based on need. i'm fairly certain it said it on the website.

A merit scholarship of at least $10,000. If need is demonstrated on the Profile, awards may range up to $22,000. This award will only be applied toward tuition charges for courses taken at Fordham. Student must maintain a 'full-time' status.

Other than what the school gives you, try to look for private scholarships, get a part time job, maybe try some other shrewd ways to earn $$
