African American Applicant! gimme LOVE!

Hmm I'm not real sure on those 7 year med programs, but if you have the chance to retake your ACT I think you should even though it would be a pain. You wouldn't want to regret on saying,"man if i only retook it i could have gotten in."

He'd get into every UC even if he was white.

no way. 99% of students no matter what color are in the top 10% of high school class at UC Berkeley and UCSD. 97% at UCLA. I dont think she would likely get into UC Berkeley or UCLA, and probably not UCSD. UC's weigh GPA much more than SAT''s or ACT's for admittance (significantly more). I dont why people are stating with a 3.46 UW GPA that you are a lock at the top 3 UC's. All three have an unweighted GPA average of above 3.9 and UC GPA averages of well above 4.0. She should be fine for UCI. UCSD and UCLA will be tougher. And UC Berkeley is gonna be next to impossible unless Berkeley weights in race through measures such as life difficulties and such. Remember, UC's are not supposed to use race (its a law here in california) although i imagine they still do to a limited extent.

good point.

"UC's weigh GPA much more than SAT''s or ACT's for admittance (significantly more)."

How do you calculate that? The only "formula" I can find is UCSD's and at first glance it is not clear to me if parts are weighted "more" or "less". IX know you can get points in certain categories up to a "max", so I supposed they were somehow balanced. I'll go check it out.

Okay, I cut, pasted, and edited this;

While a combination of factors is considered in the comprehensive review of freshman applicants, academic achievement factors constitute approximately 77% of the comprehensive review score. Applicants with the strongest combination of academic, personal characteristics, and achievement factors will be admitted in sufficient numbers to meet the campus enrollment goals

and

Enrollment goals are established annually.

So it seems more cut & dried than other schools, but the "enrollment goals" could make things hard to predict.

UC's have been reducing the importance of SAT's for years now. they have been quite active in their not so favorable opinion of the SAT's by trying to implement changes to it and reduce its importance in admissions. GPA and class rank (top 10% for top UC's) is much more important. However, SAT's are still a significant stat when UC's evaluate students for admissions, just not as much as GPA. UCSD uses a point system, and UCLA uses a more holistic formula (new for this year).

tim burner??????

Ya, your in everywhere. Go to UNC and play basketball and watch you there, lol.
