You're African American, you go to the best high school in the state, you have an upward trend in grades, you have a high ACT, and you have more than enough ECs... Go figure. I bet you'll probably get that 1K scholarship from UCLA too.

You have good chances for the top UC's, but the thing I'm not sure about is whether your ec's and your grade trend will be noted by a UC because UC's differ far more than privates. All in all I'd say you are match. Good luck.

I think the Ivies are a bit of a stretch because of the GPA/rank, but I agree with Peppers that the test scores and giant leap in grades from 10th to 11th helps you tremendously.

I'm going to disagree with both Peppers and kyledavid80 slightly (and even bartleby) and rate your chances as:

UCB--slight reach
UCLA--match
UCSD--match
All the other UCs--safe match or better.

I'm thinking your So.Cal "connections" are going to help more at UCLA than at UCB.

^^ heh, I had considered saying Berkeley's a "slight reach" whereas UCLA is a "match," but I've been jumped by UCLA supporters in the past for saying such. (Regardless, I still consider Berkeley a bit more selective, though not by a large margin.)

lol, I guess that's one advantage I have from being a UCLA MBA graduate; I don't get any UCLA people telling me that I don't know the school--or it's selectivity ranking and academic competencies.
