I know GPA is a little low. Here is a breakdown of my grades since freshman year (These are approximations, not exact)
Freshman - 3.2
Sophomore - 2.8 (Close uncle passed away)
Junior - 4.1
1st Semester Senior Year - 4.5

I'm currently looking at CAS

You aren't totally out of line in terms of admissions - spend a good amount of time on your essays, and they should at the very least take note of your upward trending GPA

Good luck!

I'm no admin. but from what I know it looks like you have a descent shot if you are applying for CAS. Dont allow any posters to discourage you, you have a shot.

you have a great shot.
you might be GSP'd though.
besides, we need more black men around here!

I think you're definitely in.

Any others?

borderline CAS... possibly GSP... I think it depends on your SAT, essay, and supplemental questions at this point... you're GPA isn't too low if you're doing ED

Er, I am not doing ED :(

I would like to but I still have 2 Subject Tests to do, and still have to try really hard on my ACT This October

Do you think it will Partially secure a spot for me if I get a 31-32 on the ACT?

Anyone?...

If you can break 700 on your SATIIs and get a 31 on the ACT, I think it would make up for your GPA problems.

Hmm...Yea I think that's possible for me.

The thing i'm worried about is top 25% since I'm right outside of it. I think ~27-28%

are you me? I also moved from Atlanta with similar stats (except for that 2.8)and I got into Tisch. Go for it.

Score! What were you SAT/ACT scores and your rank, if I may ask?

don't let this person fool you. Tisch is so much different than CAS... with tisch, they are looking way more at your work than at your grades. with tisch they want talent over academics... while with CAS they're looking mostly at your grades.

I'm sincerely hoping that you are not referring to me. I never said that Tisch was the same as CAS. Tisch is actually harder to get into if you want to look at it like that.
Anyway, Bashi, go for it. Worse case scenario is that u get put into GSP. Which, believe me, is nothing to feel ashamed about. My GSP friends love it.

I'm getting a little nervous! Anyone else?

i think at this point, you're just looking for a pat on the back...
none of us can tell you whether or not you're going to get in, we can just tell you what we think. you've heard what a few people think. besides, most the people that are on this thread are simply other prospective NYU student, there are very few actual NYU student.

anyways, i said before that you have a great shot. GSP, while it's not the end of the world, looks pretty realistic for you though.
