African American SAT Scores

Hi I wanted to know if any students know any African American students that got in with 1800s or 1900s because I have a 1850 my first time but retook and will retake again and I needed to see where my chances lie for the most part. I am also applying Early Decision to SEAS, thanks!

And I have been studying extremely hard for the SAT

^SAT is just 1 part of the application. Just try your best.

Yea I just dont want my score to restrict me

If you don’t want it to restrict you then get a higher score.

easier said than done man, getting a higher score can be 10 points more-minuscule. anymore examples/advice?

Have you PM some current SEAS students to get an idea of their workload and lifestyle?

Jlaine: I think you’re missing Niquii’s point. Certainly improving SAT is not simple. What I would caution you is to be so actively looking to work the system for an advantage that might not be had by others. This is the exact thing that riles those who oppose Affirmative Action.

I support schools’ efforts at diversity. But beneficiaries of it should also be cognizant of what opponents of AA feel is unfair or bothersome.

Thats true I have very good and dedicated EC’s especially in Chemistry and tennis. I’ve also taken the hardest courses possible. Im just worried about my SATs no matter what race I am. I just wanted to know how other African Americans worked out in my situation. It would see irrelevant if I got stories about International kids etc

ANd no I havent PMed any SEAS students I got a jist from an engineering program I did at Cornell and I’ve read a lot of threads

buuuuuuuuuuuuuump

Work on SAT Subject tests:Math Level 1 or 2, and Physics!

Im doing ED. I took the October SAT since its more important and I took my SAT IIs in June. Im just banming on doing well on the October one coming back. 2 more days!

any more examples/cases or advice?

I take it you didn’t do amazing on the October SATs since you bumped up this thread. That being said, there is not point in asking that question. Apply and see what the decision is in a few months. All we can do is speculate. Yes, there have been African Americans who have gotten in with 1850’s and yes there have been many who have gotten in with less. And YES there have been some who have had much higher than 1800 and have gotten rejected. All you can do is, again, apply and wait it out.

naa I just raised it 80 points. smh. Im takin the rest of the blue book practice tests and takin it again in November

superscored is 1990 though I feel like I should at least break 2000 in a single sitting so Im studying really hard
