African Americans and the ACT

If your essays were “written very well” then they would have been very well written.

I think that things should not be based on race. EVERYONE should have to have certain scores for certain colleges and, there should be no exceptions for your ethnicity. myraven11: I understand that SOME African Americans were not treated right. But, it wasen’t like our generation was doing the cruel things. SoIi don’t think people should use that as an excuse to get more money for college.

"As an african-american female, I have had to work twice as hard to earn the scores and education that most of you all receive because of what I am offered. "
This is just simply not true. Maybe 50 years ago, but not in 2012. In fact, some cities (Like baton rouge louisiana) send African Americans to better private schools even if they don’t have the grades for it.

It is true though. I am not black, but whites have been given preferential treatment throughout history. It has only been a fraction of time that blacks have been given equal rights (only since the 1960s). Even today, racism exists in many areas of society that deny blacks the same rights as whites. Most blacks have not come from the same, well-off background that most whites come from because of that. In order to get them on that same level, the standards should be different.
