i am just curious to know if my placement is generally normal or not..

after four consecutive years of taking a language in high school.... (i know every college is different) but how many years did you get off/what level did you start at freshman year of college?

It depends on the college. Some colleges will waive the language requirement if you have made it through the 4th year of a language. Others will give you a placement test so that you will be placed at the correct level.

You also may want to consider learning a completely different language in college.

Check with your college. Many give placement tests to help determine the correct level for foreign languages.

Depends on the high school, college, and language.

Here is an example from Berkeley for French: <a href=“Placement Guidelines | French”>http://french.berkeley.edu/undergraduate/placement-guidelines/
