I was wondering if people who go to rice find it difficult to leave texas or the South-East in general when it comes to looking for a job. If someone was interested in living in the north-east after graduation, should they look elsewhere?

Houston/Rice isn't in the SE. As you probably know, about 1/2 of Rice students are from TX. If you live in the NE and wanted to stay in that general area after graduation then it would seem to increase your odds if you went to one of the many great schools in that area.

Lots of big multinational companies in Houston, and plenty of students get jobs with them, then transfer to other states/countries. I think Rice is a great school especially for undergraduate years, and will serve you well even if you want to settle in the north-east. Some people advise picking Grad schools with an eye for where you want to settle, but undergrad is different.

yeah that is what I was thinking but I wasn't sure since I read somewhere on the vault.com website that almost all the companies that recruit on campus are all for jobs in texas. I'm not sure exactly what I where I want to live yet, I just wanted to make sure that I would be able to go to other areas of the country after graduation.

It's definitely possible to go outside Texas after graduation. You may have to do a little bit more searching for opportunities than someone staying in Houston would, but companies from outside Texas definitely hire Rice students.

My son had three solid interviews after the fall career fair. None of the jobs were in Texas. Went from Washington DC to Washington state via Rice.
