Thank you for your comments. The decision to split forums is a hard one because most posters hate changes. It is not easy to find the appropriate categories and decide what should remain in the original forum. One danger is to create too many sub-forums and lose the interaction of many posters.

hey guys,
I will be in my second year at aku this september. i am an american citizen and have been educated in america for my entire life. here are my stats:
SAT I: 1560, SAT II Chemistry: 750, SAT II Biology M 770, AP US History 790. I am pretty sure that they now require applicants to take the SAT II Physics test. I guess i lucked out. If you guys have any specific questions feel free to ask.

good luck

Wow! You have amzing test scores masha Allah. I just got rejected from AKU. My SAT I score is 1300; therefore, I didn't even get past the first round. All my other scores (i.e AP and school grades) are good, so I really thought I would get it. But it turns out they only look at SAT I scores for the first round. :(

I have a few questins about AKU admissions. I am a college graduate in the US. Can someone from AKU email me?Thanks

to peterkang.

Since you offered, i was just wondering if it's possible for american citizens living in pakistan to send in SAT scores instead of sitting for the admission test. Not to sound like a prat or anything, but i did pretty well on my sats, and dont want to go through the whole ordeal of picking up inter books if i dont have to.

muchos gracias

oh and as for that little bit about how pakistans unsafe.

I've been living here almost all my life, and i can safely say that i have never been raped, butchered on natoinal tv, or blown up. Stereotypes suck

Several AKU graduates have publications upon graduation, something pretty rare even in the US
[/quote]

Publications being rare? Most of the premeds I know have publications by now. I know multiple students who had several while high school students. From what I've seen as a medical student, most of the students I've run into have at least one publication over their years in medical school.

And what I've seen from Sedrish is right: These medical schools may well be just as good, but there's no question that you will get second priority relative to an equally qualified US graduate, and even a lesser qualified one.

Many doctors may well do fine. That's not the question. The question is: how well will you do with the two different options. That's a question that no number of Hopkins faculty can answer.

The aku faculty on the website sucks. . i mean none of them are from good foreign university (except a few) and certainly none from ivy-calibre schools. Also, none of them have pHds .. how can u compare it to a US or any other top med school?!
