<p>My parents want me to apply in case I don't get into a 7-year or 8-year, but its not like they are forcing me. They got some pretty strict requirements such as minimum SAT II of 700 for bio, chem and physics. But its a pretty great program, only 5 years and average USMLE test scores are in the 90 something percentiles.</p>
<p>If you can get a more precise USMLE Step I score, that would be an important piece of information to have.</p>
<p>I'm thinking of applying to both Aga Khan and Dow Medical College, but the costs alone are ridiculous and you don't get any financial aid. Aga Khan is an amazing college though, alot of my family's friends have been there and I visited there myself. I heard the USMLE scores from AK Graduates rank among the 99th percentile average. Overall, great schools with amazing reputations, in fact, AK is affiliated with Harvard Med, but the cost is a major setback for those not so well-off. Good Luck!</p>

<p>Yea, thats what I heard as well when I visited the campus. I see that you are worried at the cost, but it is only 20k per year. Compared to US undergrad and med schools thats nothing. Cheap undergrad in US is 10-20k, and all private are at least 35k per year. Med school in US is minumum 40k if not 50k per year.</p>
<p>So, I think overall the only motivating factor to go to Aga Khan (for me) is because its an extensive, accelerated, and cheap compared to the US.</p>
<p>Average US debt for a med student is around 130k, and 72 percent of graduates have debt of at least $100,000</p>
<p>At Aga Khan...if you have 0 dollars to your name, the maximum debt you will be in is 100k, and hopefully by that time you have secured some money or loans.</p>

You should always, always get citations before believing this sort of data, no matter what the school in question.</p>

<p>I would object strongly to a student picking a medical school -- any medical school -- based on a statistic that can't be verified. I would, of course, object even more if you were making a brochure.</p>

<p>I agree with BDM. USMLE stats (even for US med schools) is one of the last criteria I would consider when choosing med schools.</p>

If you are applying as an american planning to got to p.k. for med school...the IBCC "WILL" deduct 20% off all your grades earned in high school because apparently the U.S. system is inferior to that in P.K. thats pure B******t! This is fact! So your A in high school physics will be a B- or C...so have fun:P</p>

<p>i'm an american citizen who is currently a second year student at AKU. About the USMLE scores....The students at AKU are smart and study hard. Not EVERYONE gets 99's. However, many students do score very high. There are no statistics regarding USMLE scores...because AKU doesn't advertise these scores. I'm pretty sure that there is no preference for Americans over Pakistani's. In my class there are two American citizens and two Canadien Citizens. For the new class, there is only one Canadien citizen. hah if you were wondering...none of them female. </p>
<p>If you guys have any other questions feel free to ask. Deciding to go for the IMG route is a big decision.</p>
