Age 17 by graduation and legality of moving into dorms?

I just have a quick question on here. I'm going to be about 17 by the time I graduate, and will stay 17 until November, and by then I'll already (hopefully) be immersed in my university classes. However, one issue I have is my parents. They're frightfully overprotective, and want me to go to a community college even though I'm potentially Stanford material, solely because they don't want me to move out. They know that in California, the legal age to move out is 18, so I'm afraid that they're going to try and use that to justify me not moving out/moving into a dorm to go to a university.

So can parents potentially keep you at home until age 18 if you graduate/try to go to your dorm at age 17?

Tell them your going to move out as soon as you can anyway. Are you really going to make me go to CC over Stanford for two extra months of my presence. As parents it is your job to present me with a situation with which I can have the best future and if even if you honestly think that CC and two months under your roof is better than Stanford… I’m sure I can convince an emancipation judge otherwise.
