Has anyone went to a state school for 2 years and then got accepted into an ivy or a school of similar status..Stanford etc? Does anyone know anyone who has? Anybody know how often undergraduate from state schools get accepted into ivy status school for med and law school?

well the top students in my local community college always got to HYPSM. it really doesnt matter what school you come from.

Really? I think I remember one of HYPSM (can't remember which) stating that they took no transfer students from community colleges that year... A 3.8 GPA from one of the top state colleges like UC Berkeley or UMich isn't going to be the same as a 3.8 from a community college.
I think what school you are from does matter. However, I don't think they really make distinguish between those who go to public schools and those who go to private ones in terms of academics.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe that them top CC students ALWAYS got to HYPSM. Just take Princeton - Princeton hasn't taken ANY transfers, CC or not, in years.

I'll put it another way. In California, there are plenty of top CC students who apply to transfer to Berkeley and while some get in, many others don't. So if a transfer from CC to Berkeley for even the top CC students is not assured, then, I highly highly doubt that the top CC students will "always" get into HYPSM. Not only are HYPSM harder to get into than Berkeley even for freshman-admits, but transfers at HYPSM also comprise a far lower percentage of the students than at Berkeley.

well its always bragged in my school that community college is not soo bad and that our community college is excellent for top students. idk if its true or if its just some lie.
