Y'know, on the back of the SAT where they make you write I agree blah blah blah... my proctor didn't say to write it in cursive so I just assumed (yes I know) that I could write it however I wanted. Literally, I just found out that it had to be written in cursive.
What's going to happen to my scores?? I thought I did very well, too :(

This is pure speculation, but I don’t expect that this would lead to the invalidation of your scores.

I never wrote in cursive… i have 5 other SAT sittings scored and sent on time no worries

This was my first time taking the SATs too
I’m horribly anxious now but thanks for the reassurance!

I did the exact same thing last October. Nothing happened. I got my scores on time and didn’t get any mail/phone calls/whatever.

This time, though, I noticed that they explicitely told you to not print. Idk if that was there last time or if this is my first time noticing it.

@1x612nt13 I’m pretty sure the “do not print” part has always been there, since I obsessively googled my scenario and it seems like students as far back as 2006 have ignored that. I’m absolutely praying that nothing happens though, I can’t afford for this test to not count :(

QUICK! Get under your bed. They’re coming for you.

^hahaha 10char

We lookiin fo you we gon’ find you we gon’ find you!

Just kidding. I’m 99.9% sure nothing will happen because you wrote in print. If they refuse to give you your scores or something, I will pay you 20 dollars because I’m that certain that won’t happen.

I forgot how to write a cursive I and i was freaking out so much haha

LOL dont worry. they only look at it to make sure your the same person who wrote the essay

It doesn’t matter one iota! Students do it all the time (print rather than write). In another few years, College Board will probably come to its senses, realize that a significant percentage of high school students have either forgotten or were never taught properly to write in cursive, and dispense with the cursive requirement.

(And, besides, remember that for most students attending high school in underprivileged areas, learning to write in cursive is probably not too high a priority. Many schools in those areas are likely struggling just to impart the basics of math and reading. College Board’s requiring those students to write in cursive and penalizing them for not doing so would result in gigantic lawsuits, or at least a great deal of bad publicity, College Board’s arch enemy.)

Sorry for the long-winded response, but I wanted to put everyone’s mind at ease…you’ve got no reason to worry!

@michaelzev Phew, thanks for the reassurance. I can sleep soundly at night now haha

Nothing except a 200 point decrease for failing to follow instruction. lol jkaay. Nothing

My proctor told us that if we can’t write in cursive, we should write uniquely enough that our handwriting looks different from everyone else’s. I’m not sure where she heard that from, but anyway, she was under the assumption that that whole section is to confirm that YOU yourself took the test and agreed to the rules if something crazy happens in the future. So anyway, you’re fine. :)
