AHHH NOOOOO!!!! Supplement mistake?!

Sooo I was doing quick last minute proof read for my supplements and realized that I should put in a word for the last sentence to make more senes. but it was 11:59 literally, and I had an intense internal battle of whether I should change it or not.
Finally I freaked out and clicked submit. The most depressing thing is, it is now post marked 1/04/2011 AND I didnt even make the change. what at lose-lose situation. should I email the admissions office about this? or just leave it.... ?

D:

call them
if this university is somewhere you really want to go, then don’t play around with your application and take action. Call, and let them know, don’t try to get too much sympathy but just let them know you were trying to make it as perfect as possible

I would shoot them an e-mail. Right now, they’re probably bogged down with 500,000 calls (or will be tomorrow and every day soon), and having interned in a desk job, I can assure you people much prefer to answer e-mails because they can be answered at your leisure, when you have free time, not when the caller decides to ring you.

Obviously, neither way will help you if they’re hard-lining, but e-mails, though they can take longer, are a nicer way of going about it. Also, make sure you get a delivery receipt on the e-mail.

But just explain to them in a few, concise, honest sentences what happened, and I doubt seriously, if it was that close, there will be any issue whatsoever.

Something similar happened to me with UChicago’s payment. I payed 3 seconds late, but Common App made it appear as one day late. I was worried that whole night just as you are now. I called the next day and I explained my situation. The woman on the phone said that it’s no problem.

I don’t think that there will be an issue.

Aw thanks for the help you guys! yes, I am going to email them right now to explain. Hopefully they will understand  Thanks again!!!

GUYS chill out!! UChicago’s supplement could have been submitted ANY TIME this week!!

Personally I also haven’t submitted my supplement  and my payment was post-marked 01/04/2011. Unis have a grace period in which they will accept apps even if the deadline has passed.

Part of the text on the site mentioned above:-
Things you should NOT worry about:

• The time stamp or time zone on your application. The CommonApplication affixes a “time stamp” on your documents. This doesn’t always reflect the time at which you submitted your application. Maybe in some part of the world, your application could be late–but not at UChicago. We give students the benefit of the doubt and are not looking to disqualify applications.
• The time stamp on your supplement. Your supplement does not need to be submitted at the time that you submit your Common Application. If you need more time on your supplement, please submit your application today and then submit the supplement later in the week.
• “What if my school forms, recommendations, or transcript don’t arrive on time?” You are only responsible for pieces over which you have control and send (like the application and supplement). We know there are blizzards and that teachers go on maternity leave. Any number of things can happen. If are missing something, we will let you know in a few weeks (after we open all the mail) and give you an opportunity to complete your application. No problem.
• “I still don’t know what I want to do in College.” That’s just fine. You don’t even have to tell us in your application–that’s part of the experience at the University of Chicago. In fact, we joke that Undecided tends to be one of our most popular majors. As long as you are eager to learn, you will find a welcoming college home.

Best wishes to you this New Year and good luck in this last stage of the college admissions process.
