nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

there was an error uploading my supplements, and my Duke and Columbia applications were not submitted until 12:01AM. the date of submission is listed as 3/16/2011. will the colleges see that they were submitted at 12:01? did I just affect my chances at all?

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

this is terrible

Way to wait til the last minute. You killed your chances.

So wait, you clicked the submit button at 11:59pm? …

You may actually have a problem on your hands. Try calling the admissions office.

No, I spent an hour trying to figure out why the document wouldn’t upload. It turns out it was not saved in the proper format. I hit submit at 12:01.

Will they see 12:01 or 3/16/11?

this is so terrible. the essays had been done forever. I wanted to wait until the last second in case I thought of any last minute changes. terrible. I feel sick

Relax. There is a grace period given to you. A friend of mine submitted a few applications late and yes he was accepted. In all they give you the grace period because they know students wait until the last minute.

Just give them a call tomorrow to make sure they have received the application. Don’t stress.

I would call the admissions but I think it’ll be okay. I stupidly submitted my cornell app at 955 pm CA time and didn’t know that common app was on EST. So the app was an hour late on their time. I asked and they said that there is a grace period that almost every school gives because they know this stuff happens.

Don’t worry about it. Things like this happens all the time. People are understanding.

You definitely need to take deep breaths and try to remain calm, but I would seriously call the admissions dept if I were you, and do so immediately. Some schools have this grace period everyone’s talking about, but some don’t. I know that when I applied to Stanford, they sent me reminders and it says all over their website that they want you to submit the applications WAY in advance because technical problems can occur, and that’s not their problem…
But here’s the flip-side- for one thing, you were VERY close to the deadline, so it will probably be okay, plus if you call and talk to them ASAP, that will show how concerned you are, what a serious applicant you are, and so on and so forth. So just make the call, and I’m sure you’ll be okay. But don’t just sit back and wait, assuming you’ll be okay- make the call.
:)

I received an e-mail for Duke that said to turn in the Common App part by March 16, so I don’t think that’ll be a problem for that school. However, I can’t say the same for Columbia. Just call!

Why wait until literally the last minute? lol! The power could have gone out in your house then you would have definitely not submitted on time :stuck_out_tongue: But yeah, call them, I don’t think they will throw you out over 1 minute. (Although they may roll their eyes when they see it.)

this happened to me for UChicago for freshman admissions last year. I think I submitted it at like 12:05 because commonapp was sooo slow. I called them the next day and they received my app / I was later accepted! Don’t panic but do call them.

lol owned…

I called and they said it was fine. No one will ever know. Haha.

You’re going to be just fine. I’ve been too busy with my finals (damn the quarter system) and turned in every single one of my eight transfer apps about a few days to even a day past the deadline. All of them were still downloaded successfully.

Best wishes to the OP
