Ahhhh I can't turn off my computer

<p>So I run Windows 98. When I go to Start >>> Shut Down >>> Shut Down, it just displays the wallpaper and freezes. I have to manually shut down (ie, press the button) every time. </p>

<p>I'm pretty sure I don't have any spyware/viruses, as SpyBoy/Adaware/ZoneAlarm/Norton aren't picking up anything.</p>

<p>Any idea how I can fix this short of formatting my computer?</p>

<p>windows 98 is notoriously unstable. try getting an upgrade if you and your system can afford it.</p>

<p>98 isn't that great but 98SE sure does kick @ss.</p>
