ahhhh intervieewww

i'm not getting an interview. if the interviewer writes "recommended with reservations" or "not recommended" it will hurt you much more than an "outstanding" writeup will help.

or, if the interview HIGHLY reccomends you, it will help you

i really doubt any interviewer is NOT gonna recommend you unless you majorly mess up. (i.e. reveal you are a stripper)

honestly, from what I've heard and from what I would figure on my own: the interviews really DO NOT matter much. They are very informal, and blah blah blah (refer to other "interviews don't matter" posts)

my guess: 97% of interviews don't matter, 1% hurt you, 2% help

I would say 85% meaningless 5% help 10% hurt

ahhhh ppl who already got interviewed, what were generally the questions you got?
i am freaking out, even though everyone says interviews don't really matter much..

@hilariousmlolin....

Penn sends a list of all ED applicants to regional alumni who interview. If theres a long list of ED applicants and not so many interviewers, you may not get one. If there isnt someone in your area, you wont get one. Otherwise you probably will.

I got my interview call less than a week after I sent in my stuff and they definitely didnt have time to look at it before telling my interviewer that I'm "good candidate, bad candidate, on the border". The interviewer even told me that she knew nothing of my academic record, nor did Penn tell her.

As for the questions. REALLY BASIC. "Why do you want to go?" "What do you want to study?" "What kind of ec's do you do" and then follow-up questions. Then you can ask the alumni some things about the school, life after school, etc etc.

The worst thing you can do is stress. IMO, the interview is given so that Penn knows you're able to hold a conversation . If you can hold up a conversation with an adult and remain calm, im sure ull be fine.

DON'T expect any weird questions either. Like nothing political, nothing that makes u think, nothing tricky. Basically, the alumni is there to get to know you. Hope that helped. good luck

thanks a bunch jkterrapin, i feel a lot better now.
and hey, i see that you've gotten into Michigan too. i guess we both applied to Penn and Michigan.. business?

Has ANYONE in the Silicon Valley gotten an interview?

Okay the person that would have interviewed me called me to just ask if I have any questions. And she explained the interviewing process to me. So basically, students get interviews by the date they send out their apps. For this year, they started interviews especially late cuz of various reasons so they lost several weeks that they could have conducted interviews. She said that it's perfectly fine without an interview. From a friend, I heard that you also get an interview if you do nursing or applied for duel degrees. I really wanted an interview..but I sent out my app really late. And, lol I had a dream last night that she gave me an interview and somehow I bombed it and it lowered my chance and ultimately they deferred me. god...I thought nightmares are only when there are monsters and dragons and stuff.

hahaha don't worry...nightmares mean good things! there was this one website that said that nightmares mean the opposite...so u are going to get it according to the meaning of ur nightmare

areyouabaddfishh: Penn only gives interviews if there's an alumni in your area and they say it doesn't affect your admission.
