anyway, i feel as excited as if i actually got in already

ps, anyone know if the school is open from dec17-jan2???? i wanna visit during that time

pps, suggestions for what to do on campus? like a generic list that everyone does, etc

ppps, THANKS!!!!

pppps, might as well post some stats... chances???

gpa 3.375 (already a disqualification, i think) 3.875 weighted
SAT 2050 (560CR, 800M, 690W, 9 on essay) (got 11 on essay the second time, but who cares)
SAT2: 690, 650, 640 (retook on nov, awaiting result)

ECS

went to school in china for 9th grade, got a lot of cultural awareness stuff
also vbasketball there, and "classroom monitor"

have about a billion community hours

internship in shanghai this past summer, taught english to executives in a company... 4 weeks

then went to rural china and participaated in an intel sponsored english teaching thing, again, 4 weeks

jv football 10th grade

Other:

pretty good school report
going to visit sometime soon
father lived/worked in china for the past 5 years
and mother had breast cancer for about 5 years too, had to do a bunch of stuff around the house (aka, housework, and take care of my younger bro)

too bad we dont have financial difficulties... extremely sound in that aspect, in fact

aside from my experiences in china, i think im pretty much a generic student..

personal:
Chinese (born in america)
california resident
going to pay full ride (impossible for fin aid)

well, please be frank, candid, or whatever you wanna call it

thanks!!~

good choice b/c me and wash u are officially divorced. well, not officially, but we aren't really talking at the moment. oh and good luck at emory!

Its a reach since grades are important, but go for it!

im sure you can come on campus dec 17-22nd, but its finals week so some kids might already be home, also, you might get a wrong impression of the school since the students look all stressed right now and everyone is pretty much camped out in the library

Any chance you can visit for a day in January when classes start? This way you can sit in on a class, etc.....

You are applying ED so you have demonstrated interest. On the other hand, I guess you are visiting after you apply.

that case is probably better, cuz i can visit during the middle of january, and ed2 comes out on feb 1st or something

in any case, are there any like, comments on my stats??

Good idea Kenneth. Might as well see the campus when it is in session as opposed to being empty. The tour and info session do not take long and you will have plenty of time to see the entire campus in 1 day. Good luck!

hey i too switched from washu to emory...but for ed 1.
if i don't get in ed 1 at emory...washu here i come!!!...well for ed2 that is lol.

Everyone should apply to emory instead of Wash U, Wash U is sooo 5 years ago!

shhhh... stop raising awareness

keep it as "a diamond in the rough"

It's not even "in the rough" -- it's a diamond. I think people are just confused about geography! One parent said to me, "Oh, Emory, yeah, so she still wants to go there, even after Katrina?" Um, yeah, Atlanta and New Orleans? Not the same town, okay?

well, im definately not confused about geography since i self studied world geography ap (well, for interest, anyway)

and uh... wheres new orleans? does it still exist?

that kinda came off as offensive..

no offense to anyone!!~

anyway, does emory need a school signature or something from my high school for ED2???
