I was accepted to the graduate program in the SIS. I’m trying to figure out if I will be getting any financial aid. I can already login to my.american.edu and view aid already there; it’s just federal loans. When does the school award merit-based aid, assistantships, etc.? How many students are given this aid?

Link to SIS Grad FAQ (Link): [SIS Grad FAQ](http://www.american.edu/sis/admissions/faq/index.cfm)
=> Scroll to FINANCES, FINANCIAL AID.

According to what I know (I work for the international students office and I know they are automatically considered for merit based awards upon admission) and read on that page, if you didn’t receive merit based aid upon admission, then you didn’t get any merit based grants, fellowships, etc. It says every student without any extra forms are automatically considered. On the FAQ page it says merit based awards are highly competitive and only about 10-15% of students receive them.

But you can always call contact them and ask yourself! SIS Grad Contact Page (Link): [Contact Us](http://www.american.edu/sis/admissions/connectcontact.cfm)

Congrats on your acceptance to SIS Grad program! From the people I know who are in it, it seems great!
