Aid for Transfer to University of Michigan

I am a current undergraduate freshman at Fordham University on a full National Merit Finalist tuition scholarship. Due to several factors, I am looking to transfer to the University of Michigan for the winter 2012 term. So... can somone tell me:
What kind of financial aid is available at UMich for an out of state transfer?
Does anyone know if any part of the National Merit Scholarship will transfer?

I know there is federal aid available, but how easy is it to receive other types of aid (for merit, etc)?

Thank you!

Likely you would receive very little aid…maybe just a 5500 student loan. You’re OOS and you’re a transfer student.

You either need to stay at Fordham or transfer to one of the few schools that give aid to transfer students. And, you’re even less likely going to get good aid as a mid-year transfer anyway.

Do NOT cut ties with Fordham until you’ve seen the FA package of any other school and fully understand what it contains. It is highly unlikely that you’re going to find good aid elsewhere…maybe Cornell…but probably not as a mid-year transfer.
