Firewall configuration.

Fix:
1. Check firewall configuration and settings (Fireball).
2. Make sure that it allows AIM to connect to the internet.
3. Make sure AIM is on the safelist.
4. Try reinstalling AIM.

I disabled my firewall, disabled all my virus/spyware programs. None of that worked. I did the ipconfig/flushdns in the cmd thing, that didn’t work either. It still gives me the "Unknown Error. Try again later.” ****. And it does it when I go to My Aim, Edit options, Edit Preferences, Privacy. I cant change any of them without the unknown error blah blah. When I exit AIM, I get an error abt 1-2 mins later with "Unknown Error, AIM needs to close". Does ANYONE have a solutioN ?

Haha, i get this when i look at porn and the 'rents catch find out. They just turn of the AIM using parental controls

lmao.......

what the.. are you serious?? this guy told me to "stop looking at porn", but I dont even do that to start with.. i thought he was kidding...parental controls?

There may be parental controls on the system that prevent you. Actually, I think that the AIM program itself has a problem caused by a conflict in the firewall rules.

My AIM is on the safe list

"AOL Instant Messenger:
Access
-Trusted (check)
-Internet (check)
Server
-Trusted (check)
-Internet (check)"

I don't know . . so I need to find the parental controls?

No, you need to find both the parental controls (accessed under Settings under the main account assuming you use AOL, or the control panel and Internet settings on the Start menu) and the list of recognized programs in the AV software. If an AV program does not recognize a program and is on automatic shutoff then the program will just be closed without warning.

It doesn't close without warning though, just those stupid unknown error messages that don't allow me to change anything. I tried going to Internet Settings, no luck. Maybe this is a lost case :(

sorry to hijack but can anyone format their SNs?

nope, damn "unknown error".
server problem?
I dont think so though, because it's been happening for a while for me

hahaha....no im saying when i do look at it...to stop me the 'rents turn on the parental controls.

depending on how its all setup, idk...usually you have to access the administrator's desktop to use them
