airfares for Family Weekend

A while back, someone noted that air fares for Family Weekend were getting ugly.

Finally booked today...'tis true, 'tis true. One of the rare cases where it was better to use my travel agent to book domestic because the on-line options involved getting to Northampton near midnight or flying a red-eye or flying from SoCal to Northampton via Charlotte, North Carolina or getting up hyper-early to catch a 6am flight from LAX or having a four-hour layover somewhere or...you get the picture.

You can still get moderately priced tickets from here if you're willing to make a compromise. We weren't so willing. As TheMom says, we're too old for some of that stuff. But to get tix that meant leaving LAX at around 9am and getting in in to Bradley around 6:30pm meant paying almost double what "cheapest" would have been. Yuck.

Still too early to book airfares for graduation. I suppose we'll also need to know if D is flying back home with us or if she's flying elsewhere for a job...and that won't be known until the GRE results, grad school app result and/or job interview results are in...so much up in the air. So to speak.
