oh i bought my ticket a long time ago (in may) for like 200. im renting a car and driving from syracuse b/c i anticipate i will need stuff for my dorm (it’s cheaper to buy a laundry basket and fan than to ship them). plus, my bf is coming with me to help me move so he can take the car back :)

but to answer your question, i did not know shuttles even existed until someone started this thread lol. hopefully they run during breaks b/c a cab ride would b expensive!

To be honest, I’ve never heard of anyone using Rochester. It’s a 2 hour drive from campus and the logistics of finding rare transportation from the Rochester airport to Cornell with luggage seems like a nightmare.

Oh and a cab from Cornell to the Ithaca airport is $20. Ridiculous, just get a friend to drop you off and pick you up.

I apologize for any confusion I may have caused with my post. It was made in haste. By “direct” I meant flying from SFO with one layover then to Ithaca. I defined direct as in not having to take ground transportation from Syracuse.

Not if you tell them that there are >1 person, all of you stop at one place, and break down the total cost.

Wow… that’s a long time ago. Last time I went back to SF for spring break, I got a deal for ~$120 I didn’t order it early either. So, I guess I was quite lucky.

Perhaps the fares have changed then. I haven’t needed to take a taxi for the past few semesters but when I did, I remember it being $18/person excluding tip, regardless of how many passengers are going to the same destination.

Advice: make sure one of your new friends has a car on campus and ask them for a ride to/from the airport, which is literally 5 minutes away. That’s 20 bones per trip in your pocket.

The only problem arises when your friend’s finals end before yours. Then you’re SOL and will have to take the cab.

They changed the schedule last semester. They now do have bus during weekends. I’m not sure what you meant by “at certain times”, but the bus runs regularly throughout the day.

@chendrix & Caillebotte2: did you guys tell them that there are how many people going to where when you guys called?

I came in from california to syracuse because it was cheaper. The additional hassle of that leg of my journey after an uncomfortable plane trip was NOT worth the money I saved.

It’s a huge hassle to come into syracuse if you are doing a longer flight, if the flight is under 3 hours goto syracuse, otherwise stick with ithaca.
