What was your PSAT score?
and
What were your qualifications for NMF after NMSF? (SAT, GPA, etc.)

Thanks for answers!

I’m just curious because I’m a junior in AL and I should make the cutoff for SF in AL but I’m wondering what will take me from there to NMF.

Hi,

If you make the cutoff for NMSF, then your PSAT score will no longer be an issue for making finalist.

To go from NMSF to NMF is a different process. You take the SAT, you fill out the paperwork, do the essay, send your SAT score to NMCorp, return your paperwork and essay to your school, your school sends the packet to NMCorp with a transcript and recommendation.

16,000 are named semi-finalists. 15,000 are named finalists. So, the only ones that don’t make finalists are students with problem GPAs, problem SAT scores, who are discipline problems at school, or didn’t do the paperwork.

The qualifications for NMF are the same no matter what state you’re in…the rule of thumb is…

At least a 1950 on SAT (be safe, try to get at least a 2000+)

A GPA that is at least a 3.4 with no D’s and only one or two C’s.

The above aren’t set in stone…but just safe guidelines…

So…any other questions?

Okay thanks.
That was my understanding but I was making sure…

Thanks!!
