ALEKS chemistry

henryj23 the link did not work but thanks for trying. so we have to complete it by 9/1/09 and get a 70% or higher by 10/21/09. Does this 70 or higher refer to the tutorial part (132/132)? Also henryj23 what do you mean by this “You must get a 70+ on one of those periodical tests to get the 2%, not by merely completing the tutorials. you get the remaining 3% by completing the tutorials (getting 132/132).” So if we fail to a 70+ on one of the periodical tests then we do not get the 2% for the grade in CH 301? I am really confused here because the email just says 70% or higher by 10/21/09.

umm ignore most of what I mentioned. I think that we get 3% by taking the initial assessment test (no matter what score you get), and 2% by getting a 70+ on one of the surprise tests that it randomly gives you. the tutorials are only to help you get that 70. you get to take the test as many times as necessary until you get a passing grade.

Oh ok. And do you know if we can login and logout of the test as many times as we want like can we take part of the test today and then continue on from where we left out tom.? Or does it have to be taken all at once? I know for the Math ALEKS you were able to logout and resume but it replaced the current question you were on with a different one (similar question but different numbers). Also, it allowed you to pause but I was scared that it would take that into consideration in the timing. Does it matter if we pause it and come back like a few hours later to resume or will that adversely my score/test in any way?

i didn’t notice any pause buttons when I took the test. as for the logging in and out, I took the test all at once so I don’t know.

Oh ok. Is it easy or hard to get a 70 or higher on one of those surprise tests that you get? Also, after you get 70 or higher can you stop the tutorial or do you have to keep going through all of the concepts? Did you already get 70 or higher on the test from the tutorials? How long does the tutorial take about?

No, I haven’t got a 70 yet. After several hours, I only had one surprise test (not sure yet if you can manually pull up a test or not) and I got a 66. If you learn fast, then a tutorial can take up from 5-10 minutes

I don’t remember any of that…got a 42%

Also, the thing doesn’t work. Like half the time it won’t give me a box to put my answer in.

I hope this will answer all of your questions.

Hi, Will -

Your current score is 88, so you will receive 100 for 5% of your grade. (Any score of 70 or higher will earn you a 100). We do encourage you to continue in the learning mode, as we feel the higher score you achieve, the more prepared you will be for CH 301 at UT.

Enjoy the rest of your summer,
Didi

so anyone else take the test…

is it hard??

i believe the difficulty level is acceptable if you took chemistry your senior year.

like me, last time i took chem was in 10th grade, i find it extremely hard as i wansnt able to recall most of the formulas, sig figs, all that stuff.

i’m an early grad though, so i didn’t have enough slots to enter a chem AP class in my schedule.=(

after getting a 70+ on an assessment test, did anyone get a confirmation that they were done with aleks and received the 5% A?

Do you have to take this ALEKS Chemistry test to take Chemistry?

the aleks chemistry test is only for people going into CH301. It’s not required but if you don’t do it, you get an F for 5% of your grade. if you just take the beginning test, you can get at least an A for 2% of your grade.

no one received the confirmation email. once you receive a 70+ on the assessment or retake, you’re done!!!

look at post #28 for more information

So if it says I got 104/132 topics then am I done because that equals about 78%?

the ###/132 topics don’t matter. once you get a 70% on an assessment test, you’re done.

It didn’t specifically give me a percentage it just told me I got 104/132 topics mastered or whatever and it showed me what I can do and what I need to improve on.

yea, the topics mastered doesn’t affect whether you get the 70% or not. at the very top, click on ‘Report’ and scroll all the way down. it should give you a percentage on how well you did on the assessment tests that it gave you. if you got a 70%+ on any of them, you’re done. the topics in the Pie only tell you how much you need to practice in order to achieve the 70%; it has no bearing on whether you pass or not.

hey guys i just took the assessment and got a 69%. i missed it by 1% (■■■). when can i take another test to score over 70? do i have to finish the entire review thing before it offers me another chance to get over a 70?

i got progress assessments after i completed 25 and 21% above what i made on the tests in learning mode. maybe it has something to do with that?
