Chemistry ALEKS question

Do you just have to complete the chemistry ALEKS test before orientation or do you have to get a certain score?

You don’t need it for orientation. You just need to have an 85% or higher on the test by midnight on august 26, or you will be ripped from the class (or FIG, if your chemistry class is part of it).

How hard is the ALEKS for chemistry? I took honors chemistry 3 years ago and don’t remember much. Is it basic/common knowledge, or should we study material? And if we should study, what do you recommend? I’m planning on taking Chem 301 for my Science requirement (I don’t plan on going into Natural Sciences or Engineering btw…if that means anything)

Can anyone please answer my question?

I tried taking it, but I don’t know chemistry since I had a bad year in 10th grade. Now I’m learning it in its entirety from khanacademy and hoping that will suffice for the warm-up (for general estimate). I’ll update you once I take it sometime this week or next.

contrary to what people have said in the thread, i received an email a few days ago saying i need to complete the aleks exam before registering in orientation. (tuesday the 2nd)

i’m kind of worried about taking the tests because i have not taken chemistry since my sophomore year in high school (4 years ago).

should i purchase the test and just take it? or should i wait it out and just show up to orientation.

Give the warm-up a shot first. That will tell you if you need to study or if you can wing it. Just go to the testing website and it’ll give you the warm-up.

^gotcha. purchased the package today.

so are you sure we don’t need it for orientation? i’m planning to sign up for CH301, not so sure if i want to take the ALEKS just yet though. i’m not comfortable with several concepts.

That’s how it was for me. I’m sure it’s recommended at least, but it wasn’t required. Call and check with the college since you say that they told you they needed it at/by orientation. I think I’m about 4/5ths done with the khanacademy playlistism. The first 50 are easy (shouldn’t take more than 2-3 days if you give it a couple hours a day), but the last 52 are harder.
