Hi guys!!
anyone know something about the prestige of the master on economics in Alfred University??and manhattan college??
i need help!!
thanks!!

Neither Alfred nor Manhattan are particularly well-known schools.

i was interesting also in nyu, rochester, baruch college,…
but now im in a scholl doing an english diploma and they have agreements with manhattan college and alfred university so in those one could be easy to enter.but im scared they are less prestigeous than nyu, rochester or baruch,…
thanks for your help gadad!!i need it!!heheh!!:)

so if someone could tell me something about that…i will be so gratefully!!!

Alfred and Manhattan are defintely less compet and less prestig than NYU and URochester; I’m not sure how Baruch stacks up (outside of business and related majors).

If you plan on going into glass or ceramic engineering then Alfred university is the way to go, it’s one of the best programs in the country.

nono, im looking for master on economics…my problem is that the appliacations are until february in many universities and i have to pass TOEFL and GRE. For example in the toefl they require my 100 points.now i think i can be like in 60 points. i will not have problem to get 100 point because im doing an english diploma that will finish in 8 months but for february it could be little bit difficult…also im looking for an intensive toefl program in kaplan(they told me is the best program in ny).i think it will help me a lot but i dont know if i will get 100 points after the program…
i write you all for know something about manhattan college or alfred university because my school have an agreement with both universities and i will not have problem to enter.but im afraid if those universities are not so prestigeous…i know is not like columbia or nyu but i dont want to make a mistake and do a bad master…
sorry for my english…i hope you understand my problems…

help!!!

I think in the case of Alfred University I would be more concerned for you because of its relative isolation and your rudimentary English skills than because of it relative lack of prestige. Alfred is located in a tiny, rural community in Western New York far from any major urban area. International students make up about 1% of Alfred’s student body of 1900, meaning you would be one of at best a couple dozen foreign students.

I can’t tell you anything about the program at Manhattan but at least you would be in New York City with its large International and immigrant population.

thanks hunsonvalley51!!so now i know that Alfred University have to be the last in my mind, someone could me something about manhattan college??or even boston university and New England College because if i can not study in New York City could be others options…
thanks for all people who help me!!
