I have been looking at the top coed boarding schools, but my mom wants me to go to an all girls school. It doesnt seem like the top girls schools are as good as the coeds(ie: Andover, Exeter, SPS, etc) - with the exception of maybe Hockaday?? I was looking at Miss. Porters, Miss, Halls and Emma Willard. Does anyone have any advice or thoughts?? I know I want to go Ivy for college, or overseas.......

Don’t believe the hype. Emma Willard is a fantastic school, and so is Porter’s. (I used to live right by Miss Hall’s, but don’t know anything other than it is small.) Girls’ Schools draw faculty and administrators who are passionate and committed to the idea of single-sex education, and you’ll find top-notch teachers at any of the schools you’ve listed. Don’t get caught up in comparing schools only through stats. Girls’ schools have a higher acceptance rate because the applicant pool is more self-selecting. I think any of the top 25-30 boarding schools can provide an excellent education and home for a smart, motivated student. And yes, plenty of graduates from girls’ schools go on to the Ivies.

Why not check out some posts from girls who have gone to these schools? I think you’ll find that there are incredibly bright students who work hard and truly love their schools.

I live in Dallas and Hockaday is a REALLY good school. I know a few girls there. There boarding pop. is very small though.

Try Chatham Hall
