Why would you pull an all nighter in high school?

To play NetHack, of course!
(Hey, don't you ever reach the stage where you just /have/ to finish ascending that game tonight, no matter how many hours it takes, or how early you have to go to school tomorrow?)

try dressing warm especially since the body tends to get cold at night. idk, that's just from my experience, also i wouldn't recommend music with words while reading unless you know you study well with music, because it can really distract you from reading especially when you're tired.

I agree with JBVirtuoso. I've never stayed up past 11 or 12 doing homework, and the work I do is spaced out between Facebook and CC sessions. Instead of cramming, just space things out and plan better. Staying up all night more than once a month or so is unhealthy and does you no good if you're going to sleep in class the next day.

seconding... either that, or with vocals that are distant. my music of choice for working is isis, but if you are into mellower stuff, i recommend godspeed you! black emperor, sigur ros, explosions in the sky or even later non-black metal ulver. this helps me concentrate so much more.

stay up with a friend. its the easiest way-you can revive your downed teammate if he falls in combat, then continue the fight. you'll both hate life during the day, but will be able to look each other in the eye and say, 'i know what happened last night...sleepy smile/glare...physics project.'

My friends and I refer to the day-afters as 'balls days' because it feels like you just got whipped in the face by the Holy One's mighty sack of retribution. You are far from alone, OP.

never had to do a "full" all nighter. but came quite close.

so my thing is -- STARBUCKS COFFEE... vanilla or mocha or something like that. not one of those you buy but those in the bottles. lol. they helped a LOT i must say

all nighters happen!!! i dont know, if i get home from school at 7, then dinner n shower is like 8-9...um yea, all nighter if its the day before a big test.

and i would suggest work straight through, its works for me because then its like sleep is this award that you get only if you get stuff done. i mean, i do usually fall asleep to early, but if i took intermittent naps..o man, i would never wake up.

^^^Well, I understand if you play a sport or have a job, but there aren't too many atheletes here, and even if you were an athelete, you could still manage to finish work before 12 -1 if you budget time correctly. I'm feeling like a lot of these people find the all-nighter experience strangely exhilarating or something to brag out on a certain college themed website...

But do all-nighers actually work well for anyone? I mean, you're getting the work done, but it's probably not your best, and if you're crashing the next day on top of that...

All-nighters are brutal....although I've never had one due to schoolwork.

All the all-nighters I've experienced have been at sleep overs from like middle school, and have been fun, but definitely not worth it. It's pretty hard to stay awake past 3, but everyone kinda had to since everyone was all wild and you needed to stay awake so people wouldn't do crap to you like draw on you or something.

Really the worst thing about them is the day after. In the morning, surprisingly you don't feel very tired but by mid-day you're an absolute wreck. It's not something I've done since like middle school.

You do what you've got to do though...so if you feel you need to do it for a project, etc. then do what you feel like
