How did you do it? Did you use any prep books or anything? Do you have any tips for getting a perfect math score?

Please respond, I know that there's a lot of you out there!

ditto, I need to raise my math score. All of you 800m HELP US

Alright it is actually a lot harder to study for the math than people think. It is completely different than studying for a math test at school. There aren't any formulas that are really going to help you. You have to use your logic and problem solving ability. I got an 800 with no preperation, just two practice tests and the PSAT. I can't give you any advice for studying because I didn't. Did you do well on the CR? I need some help on that (640), how do you do well on that?

I got a 750 on CR...do a lot of practice tests to familiarize yourself with the types of questions that they ask. I wouldn't bother studying too much vocab (unless that's the reason you missed most of your questions), because it's so unlikely that you will have studied every word that you need to know. If any, study prefixes/suffixes.

Anybody else for math?

I got 800 on CR. Do tons of reading, practice with CB and PR books, I dont recommend learning random words ( way to much work and definitely not really worth it).

help us with math please....

if you're scoring in the high 600s-low700s on math, chances are it's because of careless mistakes.. the best way to fix this is to read each question slowly, even twice if necessary, and to check all of your questions at the end. i actually didn't do too well on satI math (720.. two wrong one omit), but on the Math II sat2 I got an 800. i'm hoping the sat2 matters more

Barrons is especially good for math (even though I didn't really use it). I haven't taken SATs yet but in all my practices and on the PSAT I got 800s/80 on Math. Studying from Barrons is your best bet. As it has been said, its not as easy to raise as people think!

for math, read the problems a few times to avoid careless mistakes. there are several types of questions they always ask (probabilities, increase/decrease percentage, etc.), make sure you know how to solve them. and practice a lot...i guess that's the way to ace sat in general.

i suck at CR. i fail the sentence completion part miserably even when i know all the vocab. i guess i have weird logic. :(

megaman wanna be my tutor? lol

toothpickforest, i swear I would, if we lived close by ...but I doubt it since I live in Costa Rica lol.

The only advice i can give you for sentence completion is think of an answer before looking at the options, this way you can at least rule out the obvious wrong options.

I glanced over the McGraw Hill book my from the library. No hard core prep. Just go fast, and check each answer at least once. You have 25 minutes; don't waste them on one question. I got one wrong on the January test and got an 800 btw.

I agree with what's been said: if you're already consistently scoring high 600/low 700, make sure you re-read the question and triple check for stupid mistakes. The little things count on the math section: if you're at the end of a section and you got an answer very quickly and easily, chances are it's wrong! Be consciously aware of this while you are taking the test.

Oh yeah, and you could try picking up a book. I used RocketReview, although I don't really know if it was the book or if it was me that got the 800... I'm good in math so I kind of expected/really hoped for it.

I didn't use any practice books, but I did do a couple practice test from the Blue Book.

Basically my advice would be what has already been said:
While practicing:
-Understand why you got certain questions wrong. There are no explaination in the Blue book but I'm sure someone on CC will explain it to you.
-If you want, you could buy a SAT Math workbook and work on your weak areas. I believe PR has good tactics for people scoring in the 600s and below.

On the test itself:
-read carefully
-check your answers (I caught myself bubbling in the wrong numbers on the Jan 28 test!)

Also, have confidence!! I went in and took the new test for the first time and revieved an 800. All about confidence I think. Oh but don't be TOO cocky and not double, triple check your work ok?

I got 800 Math (totally unexpected because I thought Math SAT I was really hard). I say you just need to practice a lot so that you go can through the problems really fast, but accurate. I usually have time to check over all my questions once and go back to the difficult ones.

Like primeminister said, have confidence!
