All the Critical Reading Questions compiled

Alright, I figure that there were around 40 Critical Reading questions, not including the short reading passages and the sentence completions. These passages are based on the longer readings. I am compiling a list of all of the questions for all of these long passages. There were 67 CR questions. Of these, 48 were CR, and not SC. Of these 8 were short passages. So, there were 40 long CR passage related questions.

Basically, if you think of a long reading passage related question that you do not see on this list, just add it. Please do not repeat any, and do not include any sentence completions or short answer passages. Those have been discussed elsewhere. I’ll start you off with the first 31.

Well, that’s what I have so far, come on only 9 more, think!

for the question listed as #14, I put down convened, but I think that's incorrect.

-- gain insight

Answers included..
-- She was unready for ther environment change
-- She yearned for beauty and comfort.

-- something about how modern singers are too dependent on technology

http://m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=convene

Don't worry about it, just if you think of anything that you don't see on this list, please add it to this list.

what's the answer to #27?

Azarel I'm pretty sure that #14 was not convene because it was talking about how some feelings were summoned or something. Iono I forgot, sorry.

The context was something summoned memories.
From the definition for convene at m-w.com: synonym see SUMMON

no..the summon one im pretty sure was "to call forth". It was something like something summoned memories. You can't convene memories, you call forth memories.

to summon was to convene, it was to gather memories.

yeah, i agree with ronlivs with the correct answer as "to call forth". convenes means more to bring together/be brought together. like the board convened for a meeting. for #11 did it really say michael jordan playing the violin?? i really don't remember that

^ #11 was a theoretical situation, if Michael Jordan, at age8, was cloned and his clone preferred playing the violin to playing basketball.

.. well crap. ):
What was the context for #1?

Okay, change in plans, since no one is giving their answers, just run through the list and post all your answers to the questions, or at least as many as you can please.

are you sure that the answer to the microphone question was that the actors rely too much on technology? wasn't the answer that the new technology wasn't fit for the place or something like that?

27 - i put an answer that said something like: cultures stem from tradition...so culture centers can't just be built anywhere?

The sentence in question says "New cultural centers does not a culture make". The answer I think is that culture takes a long time to develop and cannot be built instantaneously.

yeah thats what i put

i agree with dualityim on #27. another point that i think the author was trying to make was that, the architecture was the cultre all along but it was a "belated" realizatoin or sumtin long those lines

For #6: What does the doctor hope was possible?(Merge opinions of Hmong and doctors, or reach agreement quickly)(HMG)

What did people put? I put reach agreement more quickly (i.e. mitigate the communication breakdown), although there is the blurb about splicing the voices together, which suggests "merging". I just thought "merging opinions" makes absolutely no sense -- you never say people "merge opinions."

(edit: moving to own thread.)

It's also call forth, not convene; you don't "convene" memories -- people "convene" to meet up.

Since this thread isn't going how about we just add the answers to the short passages as well? Some questions that I remember from the Recycling passages:

How does the purpose of passage two compare to passage one?
Answer: Passage one describes a phenomenon which passage two criticizes.

On what does the authors of the two passages agree?
Answer: that the rules for recycling are convoluted.

How would the author of passage two most likely describe the people (line number x) described in passage one?
Answer: Uninformed
