Right now I have a 2.5 after this semester and the summer I will have a 2.8. Since applications are in November, I will be applying with a 2.8. In December I plan on getting academic renewal which will bring me up to a 3.2 and by the end of spring 2012 I will have 3.4. The problem is that, I am going to be applying with a 2.8 and I'm going to be missing o chem and the post calc math classes, I hear they are not mandatory but idk.... Also I know I should be asking this to a counselor but they never seem to have any answers, they just keep showing me assist.org oh also I'm going to have 47 credits when I apply and ~65 by end of spring, so.... Do I have a chance, or a I going to riverside? :|

My major is Chemistry in case that makes a difference , I'm trying to get a chem BS, nothing fancy like theoretical chem.

One thing you have to remember is that academic renewals are not guaranteed when you apply for it. Your dean (or someone) will evaluate your situation and decide whether or not to approve it. With that being said, your GPA is too low to TAG since I really do believe that Davis will be increasing their GPA requirement. Depending on your major and what not. If you do in fact have a 3.4 at the end of Spring (which the UC’s WILL see), you have a decent chance. I wouldn’t guarantee you because people do get rejected with much higher GPA’s.

The thing that is bringing you down is your missing pre-reqs. I assume you are majoring in some kind of engineering? The most impacted majors ever.

Personally, I’d give it a 25-50% chance of admittance. But don’t take my word for it.

There is no harm at all for applying for Davis. Best thing to do now is just keep your grades up. Get those A’s and write a darn good personal statement.

gets on the ECs and start preparing your essay

Extra Curriculars.

I’ve been a math tutor here for about a year, does that count? What type of activities do you advise I do?

@ Andres: If you do get academic renewal, it’s important that you notify the UC’s. I got Academic Renewal for one of my classes late in the application period too. If you do get it, notify them immediately through your January application update…and maybe even call them too, to be safe.

And yeah, math tutoring definitely counts as a good EC.

Dont worry about EC’s or personal statement…Davis doesnt care.

Get that GPA up by the end of next Fall. The GPA they will see while making their decision is the one you have at the end of Fall. Take a ton of easy classes and ace them.

The fact that you’re working at a significant upward trend in your grades, shows that even though you may have went through some weird times you found intense motivation.

Motivation is an extremely desirable trait in a student.

Keep up the work and you definitely stand a chance.

You’re applying with a 2.8? I think you’ll be rejected, TAG minimum for UCD is now 3.2 and I think their average transfer GPA is somewhere around a 3.34 like UCSB, which is equally ranked with UCD.

I saw there were a couple people who were admitted with below a 3.0 in the Davis thread and TAG will also be limited to only one UC next year so it’s not impossible.

I got accepted to UC Davis with a 2.88 GPA. Now I just need to maintain that GPA or raise it higher.

What’s your major, did you have all your prereqs done?

There’s only one way to find out. Get the best grades you can during the spring and summer, and take a shot at Davis.

Animal Science. I do not have all my prereqs done. However, I’m planning to change my major after I spend a quarter there.

I got waitlisted with a 2.94 .
I would be cool with this, but to get admitted after getting off the waitlist I need to get up to a 3.0 after this semester . Normally easy, but right now I’m taking an evil combination of Geo, French and Math( easy, since its a re-take, no you can’t pass without buying the textbook ) . Plus they only give you 3 days to accept if they give u a spot after being on the waitlist. This isn’t cool since I’d have to cancel one admission and accept another within 3 days .

Well, go for it, but apply to other schools too, some CSU’s too
