My window was today, at least, but I still had a horrible experience. I have to first say that for some time, I hadn't been able to put courses into my primary bookbag. I tried calling the Registrar yesterday to ask about the problem, but no one answered, and I didn't pursue the matter. I thought that maybe the "put classes into primary bookbag by June 28th" thing had been enforced, and that I'd be able to use the bookbag for registration. I never thought that it wouldn't work--"That's just silly!" I told myself.

So...the day came. I thought all my work to pick out a large batch of classes would finally end. I had my schedule all worked out, and since there were a few spaces in each class, I thought I'd have a bit of luck by my side, and be able to enroll in at least a couple of them. I was horribly wrong. After waiting patiently by my computer for 9 o'clock, I was able to click on "Go Register." But the buttons hadn't changed.

I then tried calling the Registrar again; a man answered this time, but said he'd call me back. I sat there, frantically clicking things in a dumb sort of panic. The call back was completely useless, and the man gave me the number for a higher power in the office. That lady wouldn't answer her phone. I tried her for a while to no avail, and called the man back--he said that the ***** was in her office, twiddling her thumbs and not actually doing anything to prevent her from answering (well, that's what he meant), and transferred me directly. She didn't actually help; rather, she gave me a list of things, briefly going over the fact that waitlists aren't allowed. I never knew if that meant that there'd be a problem if I had full classes in the alternate bookbag, and the lady didn't, either. But at that point, almost all of the classes in my bag were full. I removed almost everything from the bag...and then the arrows appeared. An hour had passed since my reg window had opened.

What's most annoying is that I'm sure this same thing didn't happen to everyone. After all, I'm sure a lot of people had classes fill up while they were trying to register, and their arrows didn't decide to strand them in the Land of No Registration. I can't be sure about that, I guess, but I think my problem must've been the product of some horrible glitch. I was in one of the last windows, and didn't complain, but this is ridiculous! Why must we freshman be forced to register so late, anyway? Upperclassmen (some, at least) have been able to register since April! They could've easily made room for us in the system earlier. I was so angry by the end of this, I was in tears (since I, being a girl, just cry instead of yell). Grrr!
