I know it's early to be thinking about Spring Break, but if you want to travel and give back at the same time, you should consider participating in UVA's Alternative Spring Break.

In the past, they've traveled to Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and New Orleans volunteering in shelters, tutoring kids, etc. They also plan fun side trips to historical sites, the local night life, etc.

Hi, I just sent this to my daughter. She applied ED and is interested in Political Science, International Relations (Humanitarian) I think she would be interested if accepted to UVA. I just can't stand this waiting!!!! I think it might be harder on me than her because I know how much she wants to go to UVA. She has wanted to go since about 4 years of age. We live in Courtland, VA which is in Southampton County. (A very rural community- hopefully this will help?) She has great Extra Curriculars but not the greatest SAT scores- We are hoping that our Native American heritage might help?

Forgot to mention she started a "Global Awareness Club" at her school this year and it is has the biggest club enrollment of any
