Alumni interview --> Likely?

Princeton University doesn't offer very many alumni interviews compared to other schools. Do you they the school only offers interviews to "likely" candidates???

Thats not true at all. Close to 100 percent of applicants are interviewed.

^ hahahaha

It depends on location. Normally in USA there are many alumni available to interview applicants. In places such as India or Africa or China, there are markedly fewer interview opportunities available; I daresay in those regions they offer interviews to the more “likely” candidates, as you say.

For strong candidates, there might no need for interviews at all.
I submitted app before the new year, got interview schedule today. Seems I am not strong enough to omit an interview :(

I think having an interview gives me some sort of comfort anyway. At least my application isn’t going straight down the toilet.

Lovebirds and snowysquirrels

Interviews have nothing to do with the strength of an applicant. In places with few alumni interviewers, the decision on who gets an interview is fairly random and says nothing about the applicant.

midatlmom, you are right. Interviews may have nothing to do with the strength of an applicant. A couple of students in my area were accepted without interviews. Some others got interviewed, half of them were accepted. I knew a few students had very high GPA (96–98%) for the entire high school years and good others but they did NOT get in.

Take one factor as an example, I am curious about how much weight of GPA would be. How important of the GPA at grade 9 and 10 would be? If a student has the average about 83% at grade 9 and 10, 90% at grade 11 and 12, is it possible to get in? Is 95% for entire HS a mandatory?

@lovebirds, I say that (s)he have a higher chance as they show an ability of improving himself / herself. Bad that I got straight 95% throughout HS.

Joking… About the same chance.

I heard P cares GPA more than others. Good for you.
In my school, my teacher told me a couple of students got in Y in the past years. But their marks were just 80% for entire HS. Why? Legacy or athlete!!!

Princeton judges applications holistically. No part is given more weight than others. Read this FAQ for clarification:

[Princeton University | Reviewing the Applications](http://www.princeton.edu/admission/applyingforadmission/faq/reviewing_the_application/)

Yes, it gives the greatest importance to the transcript but the same could be said of most elite schools. Unless you’re an exceptional case (say you cured cancer but somehow managed to flunk high school :p), you’re not going to get into Princeton with C’s. You have to show some academic aptitude! 80% is not that bad :p

Sorry brushingteeth, alumni interviews are relatively common and not given based on credentials.

Alumni interview –> Application Sent

I am an applicant from. I received a interview request yesterday. Does it mean that I am likely to be admitted?

It’s not an indicator. I got a request the morning the admissions office opened on the 4th. I submitted on the 1st. There is no way anything was read except my location…

I agree that getting an interview means nothing. Don’t read into every little thing too much, you’ll drive yourself mad!
My interview is on Saturday; I’m excited! I weirdly enjoy them.

More likely chance:
If you were born when your mom was 18 to 24 yrs old, you would have more likely chance. hahaha… Some people said that.

hmmm could interviews be more important to international students???
