So I just got an email responding to my alumni interview request.. the guy said "JHU has asked me to interview you and provide and evaluation on your qualifications for admittance".. I thought the interviews were supposed to be informative and not evaluative? what does this mean?

We’re asked to briefly describe our impression of you and what we think you might bring to campus (I’m deliberately being vague). But as I tell all the students I interview, the main purpose is for you to learn about the university. As I wrote in another thread, our evaluation of you carries importance between almost none and none.
