Johns Hopkins University Undergrad Interview

Hi!

I will be going to my very first college interview soon for my dream school and just wanted to know what I should expect and if any of you guys had any advice for me. Please give me any advice, tips, and pointers the many of you have to offer!

Thank you!

How important is the interview? Any thoughts from ED/past applicants who interviewed and got in/rejected? It’s just because JHU doesn’t seem to mention the interview at any point during the application process and you sort of have to go out of your way to find one on their website. Should i really sign up for it if i want to go there?

The interview is just a way of providing more information about yourself to the committee. You go down there’ you interview, and your interviewer (mine was a senior engineering student) writes up a little form paper type thing about you afterward. It’s not essential. I don’t believe most people do it. Prepare to be asked about your community and your role in it, and your essential defining personal qualities. Be prepared to make yourself stand out.

@falynweiss‌ what if i can’t make it to Hopkins? Is an off-campus alumni interview worth it?

@randombowss I don’t have a personally experience, but in my opinion, yes. Just make sure you have good questions and interesting things to say.

I’m an alumni interviewer so if you search through some of my recent posts, you can find my thoughts/advice for the interview. (Sorry, I don’t want to re-type everything).
