I got the alumin scholar sholarship as well! Congrats to everyone else!

yay Colgate, more people need to post regularly on the Colgate board, it is relatively tame compared to other top notch schools

I was out of town on a school trip and only returned yesterday and found my Colgate AMS acceptance waiting. This is so neat!! I really love Colgate, when I visited I could really see myself there. The strange thing is I called my parents twice during the trip and they never thought to mention that there was package from Colgate waiting for me.

does anyone have info on the number of AMS scholars that actually decide to attend Colgate?

hey there, I am one of them, too! :) it was unexpected indeed, especially when i had the idea that the first results will come out about April 1. But still, I'm really wondering how many (or should I say how few) of the AMS's choose Colgate over other top schools that eventually accept them. I think they said they give this award to 500 ppl, but then you say there are 200 like them in the class... that says something.

Colgate gives the Alumni Memorial Scholarships to the top 200 applicants. If the people who are originally designated AMS decide to go to another college, then no one gets their award. I think I read that one-third of the people accepted RD at Colgate actually go there, and I would assume that rate would be a bit lower for AMS because they are the top RD applicants, and many of them are accepted at Ivys.

Okay, hung out at the admissions today- 41 AMS for the class of 2009 came :)

Interesting statistic - so about 20%.
