RD Accepted!

I got accepted to Colgate today, through regular decision. I also got accepted as an Alumni Memorial Scholar. It said on the letter that I would get research grants of up to $5000 renewable a year. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other perks given to a Scholar. Thanks in advance.

Hey, good job!! I heard a lot of ppl are getting those. If u dont mind me asking, what were your stats?

the $5k appears to be the biggest AMS perk. Lots of activiities & events though:

nice job, were you ED to Princeton?

Congratulations!!!

"RD Accepted!
I got accepted to Colgate today," ---- I hope i can say the same lines on this forum someday

Eventer: Yea I applied ED to Princeton, got deferred.

Boonie: I had 800 MT 740 CR and 660 WR, had some leadership positions, wrote a pretty good essay. Wrote an research paper that's going to be presented at a conference. More info if you search for my chances post, though some of that stuff might be dated.

Colgate seems like a great place, and they offered me an amazing package (almost full tuition). I wasn't expecting to get into AMS (heck, I didn't even know about it)

hey amacing, i applied ED to princeton, got deferred, and now i'm an AMS at Colgate too! what a coincidence.

me too! It would be interesting if we all ended up there

I am also an AMS at Colgate! I've just found out today. Congrats, guys! :) We might see each other there

My first choice back in the day was Princeton too and ended up at Colgate (before the days of the AMS, although don't know if I would have qualified anyway). After Dartmouth and Williams, there are probably more Princeton rejects at Colgate than any other school (maybe Cornell too, but about 1/3 of 'Gaters get in there). Best of luck to all you guys.

Congrats to both of you!!!

To clarify about the AMS grant- it's actually one time. You have $5,000 to spend over the course of four years. I actually sat in a friend's presentation (she did WorldTeach in China for the summer) and saw some of the other AMS' presentations- they did a lot of traveling for their research... really interesting stuff. Even though you have that kind of limit, there is so much that you can do to create a huge project... start dreaming now :)

Hey, aspiringpat! Congrats on your acceptance! Where in Romania are you... I'm a neighbor from Bulgaria, currently first year at Colgate. This is a great place :) Are you seriously thinking of coming here or did you get accepted to some other place you want to go to?

Hey, princessofdawn! I'm from a city close to the capital of Romania. Where in Bulgaria are you?

The Colgate acceptance letter was the first one I received, so I am first going to wait for the other decisions before I decide where to go. Nonetheless, I am very excited about Colgate and the offer they made me was absolutely amazing!

Are there many students from Eastern Europe at Colgate?

There's a Colgate Bulgarian Society, I read about it.

Oh man I've heard about that too, but it takes so long for mail to get to The Bahamas ...

aspiringpat, there are quite a few Eastern Europeans; we're a great bunch :P Well, good luck with your other applications! Drop a note when you make a final decision :)

Hey congrats all, I got into Colgate too, but no scholarship yet.

What did people need to do to get the Alumni Memorial Scholarship Grants?

AMS is based on the top 200 people that Colgate wants... so can't say exactly what you needed to get in order to qualify....

Yes! I just got my letter through FedEx today. I had a feeling I was getting in when the delivery lady handed me that big envelope! If I go to Colgate, it will surely be a change from the nice, warm Texas weather!

any int'ls got in yet?
